Sara Catherine Staton was born and raised in Albany. She is a graduate of Oregon State University, earning a bachelor's degree in sociology in 2003.
She became active in Albany First Christian Church during college and felt called by this community to pursue ministry studies. She received her master's of divinity degree from the University of Chicago in 2006 and was ordained. She completed a year-long clinical pastoral education residency at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Eugene in 2007, focusing on chaplaincy with oncology patients. She has served as associate pastor of FCC Albany since fall of 2007. Sara, her husband Matt, and their son Evan enjoy life in Albany. Matt, who also grew up in the Albany area, is the mechanic for a local grass seed farm. Sara likes running, watching movies, reading, and spending time with her parents, Greg and Linda, and sister, Laura.
