First Christian Church is a faith community committed to spiritual, personal and communal growth. We are rooted and find our unity in our common worship of God. We live out that worship in everyday servant-hood of one another, our wider Albany community, and our world.
We covenant to tend our mutual growth through joining in worship and prayer, regularly studying God's word, practicing compassion toward all, and serving the neighbors God sends us. In all things, we celebrate the inclusive, lively love of God.

The Basis of Our Faith

As Members of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, we believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of the living God, and proclaim him lord and savior of all creation. Likewise, we respect and honor all who live lives of compassion, love and justice, whatever spiritual paths or faiths they choose.
In Christ's name and by his no-strings-attached gift of grace, we accept our missions of witness and service to all beings and to the earth that is ours to nurture. We rejoice in God, maker of everything, and in the covenant of love that binds us to God and to all creation.
Through baptism into Christ, we enter into newness of life and become one with all people of good will. In the communion of the Holy Spirit, we are joined together in discipleship and in obedience through the teachings of the Christ.
Everyone is invited to communion at the table of the Lord, where we celebrate with thanksgiving the saving acts and the presence of Jesus Christ. Within the universal church of all who seek the creator, we receive the gift of ministry and the light of Hebrew and Christian scriptures.
In the bonds of Christian faith, we yield ourselves to God that we may serve the one whose kingdom is forever.
